Overview:
- Review of the drug & Alcohol regulations (Parts 382 and 40),
- The prohibitions (positive, refusal, actual knowledge, etc.),
- Tests and the testing procedures,
- CBD/THC issues in WI and at the federal level,
- The Clearinghouse (making the required queries and entries, what it is used for and will be used for),
- Reasonable Suspicion Test Option.
DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors is a 2-hour course. This course meets the DOT training requirements (49 CFR 382.603) for employers and supervisors and is critical in maintaining a safe and drug-free work environment. It includes more than 60 minutes of training in making reasonable cause determinations for alcohol use based on specific, contemporaneous, articulable observations of appearance, speech, behavior, and body odor.
Supervisors will learn about their roles and the regulations set by federal, state, and company policies on drug & alcohol use in the workplace, covering the DOT guidelines on substance use and outlining the process for conducting reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol tests, in addition, also learning how to recognize the signs and symptoms of substance abuse in the workplace, the consequences of such behavior, and how to handle related situations.

Dr. Todd Simo – Managing Director of Transportation and Drug & Health Screening, HireRight
Dr. Todd Simo is the Managing Director of Transportation and Drug & Health Screening at HireRight, a leading provider of global employment background checks, drug testing, education verification, and electronic Form I-9 and E-Verify solutions. Todd also served as HireRight’s medication director starting in 2009 and was promoted to chief medical officer in 2015. Todd has more than two decades of experience in the medical consulting arena. Prior to HireRight, he was the medical director of an occupational health clinic in Virginia and owned a consulting firm providing medical director services to multiple companies located throughout the city.
He is a board-certified medical review officer with vast experience and training in family, occupational and addiction medicine. An established thought leader in the drug and alcohol testing industry, Todd has presented at numerous state, national, and international conferences about drug and alcohol testing best practices as well as MRO procedures in multiple industries including transportation, logistics, manufacturing, and human resources and frequently offers webinars on these topics.
