Practice Concentration: Mary Beth focuses her practice in the area of worker’s compensation law, including litigating Wisconsin worker’s compensation cases and counseling employers on issues related to health and safety, accommodating disabilities and other employment-related decisions following a work injury.
Profile: Mary Beth works with employers to aggressively defend workers’ compensation claims and strategically manage both small and large cases to a positive conclusion. Her experience includes representing employers and insurance carriers on a large variety of cases by performing a comprehensive analysis, trying cases to administrative law judges, and representing clients on appeal before the Labor and Industry Review Commission, Circuit Court, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. She counsels employers throughout the work injury process, designing and executing creative strategies to prevent litigation and reduce costs, investigating injuries, advising on employment decisions and more. Mary Beth’s experience also includes representing entities paying workers’ compensation benefits in third-party Circuit Court and District Court matters, including preparing pleadings, making court appearances, and participating in mediations.

Practice Concentration: Detail-oriented and responsive to client needs, Michael provides strategic defenses and advice for self-insured employers facing workers’ compensation claims.
Profile: Michael provides counsel on high-value workers’ compensation cases involving complex facts and legal issues. He frequently assists with the investigation, prepares case analyses for clients – outlining current and potential workers’ compensation exposures and defenses – and assists the team in managing the direction of the litigation. Michael drafts global settlement agreements to help clients proactively avoid potential claims not covered in the Workers’ Compensation Act. In addition, he assists clients through subrogation opportunities to recover benefits paid.
Michael regularly works with administrative law judges at the Wisconsin Worker’s Compensation Division, informally and at hearings and mediations, to facilitate efficient and cost-effective disposition of cases, predominantly through negotiated compromise agreements. His experience includes significant appellate litigation before the Labor & Industry Review Commission, Circuit Court and Court of Appeals.

Practice Concentration: Margaret focuses her practice on worker’s compensation defense, including analysis of compensability of claims, negotiation of settlements, and communication with claims representatives. She also offers training sessions so that clients can avoid issues when possible, with a special focus on members of the insurance industry and self-insured employers who handle worker’s compensation claims.
Profile: Margaret has experience representing clients in Administrative Law proceedings around the state. She has presented on topics including ethical dilemmas in worker’s compensation and best practices when dealing with worker’s compensation claims. Margaret regularly volunteers with the Milwaukee Eviction Defense Project assisting low-income tenants who are facing eviction.
