This seminar will provide attendees with basic introductory knowledge and understanding of the DOT/FMCSA Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). It focuses on the major regulatory areas scrutinized during a federal and state compliance intervention or review (audit) These areas of focus will include:
Ø Applicability of Federal and State safety regulations to intra and interstate motor carrier operations
Ø New hire driver’s qualifications, requirements and obtaining driver MVRs
Ø Driver qualification files
Ø Drug and alcohol testing
Ø Hours of service (drivers’ daily logs)
Ø Vehicle maintenance, inspection and documentation
Ø Accident record keeping
Ø FMCSA Pre-Employment Driver Screening Program (PSP)
Ø Overview of new regulatory changes including hours of service and electronic on-board recorders
Ø FMCSA Compliance, Safety and Accountability program (CSA)

Cliff Johnson, Acuity Mutual Insurance,: Johnson is Acuity’s Trucking Specialist with over 29 years of trucking related experience. Including:
Ø University of WI Stout MS Risk Control Program
Ø Many years of actual behind the wheel truck driving experience currently holding a Class A, B, C, D and M Drivers License
Ø Worked in the insurance industry as a Loss Control Representative visiting motor carriers and helping them with their FMCSR compliance programs
Ø Worked for Nordic Track and Pactiv Corp as their Environmental, Health and Safety Manager having significant warehousing and trucking
Ø From 2001 to 2014 owned and operated a regional trucking business within a tri state area.
Ø With Acuity, Cliff’s current role is as a resource to underwriting, claims, loss control, agents and insured’s on issues related to trucking and on reducing the liability of the motor carrier and truck driver to unnecessary risk and loss.
