January – Matthew Kath, Skinner Transfer Corp
Matt has over 2 million accident free miles in his 23 year career. Matt has been driving for Skinner Transfer for 10 years. He has been in the President’s Safe Driver Club for 7 years. He is an over the road trainer and a member of the Driver Council representing other Skinner Transfer Corp drivers.
Matt lives in Portage with his wife Amber, and their “fur” babies – 9 cats, 3 dogs, 3 turtles, 1 tortoise, 1 bunny and 3 guinea pigs. He loves to hunt and fish. Matt is an ordained minister and gives to many charities, including St Judes. He often buys food, gas, meals and clothing for those in need.
February – Todd Berg, Martin Brower
Todd has been driving for 29 years the last 23 with Martin Brower. He has driving over 1.5 million miles. He has one accident in that time, a non-preventable where a driver had fallen asleep and was coming at him head on when the driver crossed the line. Todd veered right to go into the ditch to prevent a larger tragedy.
Todd lives with his wife, Vicky in Janesville where he is a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church. He holds a number of events with youth groups and leads Bible study classes. One day he hopes to start a non-profit organization to teach and mentor disabled veterans and handicapped individuals through fishing.
March – William Minor, Walmart
Beaver Dam, WI
Bill has been driving for 27 years the last 5 with Walmart. Mr. Minor has over 3 million accident free miles.
Bill was the 1st one on the scene of an accident. One man was unconscious in a car when the car started on fire. He used his fire extinguisher to keep the fire at bay until the rescue crews were able to extricate the driver. He has been a member of the Wisconsin Road Team Captain’s. The Road Team provide a positive image for the trucking industry. Bill has participated in many Truck driving championships, placing in the top and going to Nationals where he was on the 2015 National Championship Team.
Bill volunteers for the Lutheran Randers and takes mission trips to Central & South America where he helps build and repair homes. He is currently working on his 2nd bachelor’s degree and learning his 3rd foreign language. In his spare time he likes shooting sports, photography and spending time with his family.
From the twelve Drivers of the Month, one will be selected as the 2021 Driver of the Year. All 12 Drivers of the Month will be honored at the Annual Safety Awards Banquet which will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at The Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, WI.
