July – Wes Radtke, Skinner Transfer Corp

Wes Radke began his truck driving career in 1969 after attending school in Texas to become a firefighter and spent many years as a volunteer firefighter. He has been employed at Skinner Transfer Corp since 2005 where he is a very safe driver with over 1 million miles driven with the company and only one preventable crash and one non-preventable crashes on his record. Wes has also worked as a company driver at Wausau Homes, Caper Divisions, Grable Van Lines, CFS Continental, Seattle Bardge, Schultz Transfer, Millis Transfer and ITC totaling 5.4 million career miles. Due to his gentle nature and his love of helping others, Wes became a Driver Trainer. He has represented Skinner Transfer at the 2007 Truck Driving Championships and has been a part of the Presidents Safe Driving Club twice. Wes lives in Baraboo with his wife Janet.

August – Allan Ratzel, Brakebush Transportation, Inc.

Allan Ratzel spent many years as a diesel technician before becoming a professional driver of 43 years. Allan pulls a reefer trailer for mostly California and west coast freight for Brakebush Transportation since 2006. He has driven 1.3 million company miles with only one preventable crash and two non-preventable crashes and has driven a total of 2.5 million career miles. Prior to Brakebush Transportation, Allan drove for multiple companies across Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Tennessee and Minnesota. He is known for his customer service skills and goes beyond just delivering freight to a customer’s dock. Allan never compromises safety and has a great grasp on the limitations of both his equipment and himself. This can be recognized through his five years in the President’s Safe Drivers Club. Allan lives with his wife Karen in Reedsburg.

September – Anthony Valentine, Birchwood Transport, Inc.

Anthony Valentine has been a professional driver for 19 years, with 15 of those years spent driving for Birchwood Transport. Throughout his 2 million mile career he has remarkably gone without a single crash or citation. He has previously driven for D & V Transportation and Polyak. Anthony is a devoted family man who is active in his church, neighborhood watch and mentoring young men and boys in his neighborhood. Besides spending time with family at gatherings and BBQs, his hobbies include getting as much chrome on his truck as humanly possible and flying remote control aircraft. His mentoring skills can be seen in the workplace as Anthony is one of Birchwood’s top drivers in terms of knowledge, experience, attitude and his ability to mentor and educate other drivers and owner operators. He exudes positivity and viewed as a top ambassador of the industry. Anthony lives with his wife Dora in Milwaukee.

From the twelve Drivers of the Month for 2016 will be selected the 2016 Driver of the Year. These drivers will be honored at the Annual Safety Awards Banquet which will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2017 at the Hotel Mead, Wisconsin Rapids.
